Welcome to Heaton Park Garden Centre

Set within an 18th century walled kitchen garden at the heart of Heaton Park, our grounds have been cared for and cultivated for over 25 years. A garden centre worth spending time in, not just passing through.

A Garden with a Story Worth Telling

Built in the late 18th century to supply fruit and vegetables for the Heaton Hall estate, these walls were engineered to create something remarkable — a sheltered microclimate in the heart of Greater Manchester. Those same walls still stand.

For over 25 years our team has cultivated the grounds within them. Today, in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society, we are developing this walled garden into a lasting community space — for wellbeing, connection and belonging — proudly aligned with Manchester City Council's Parks Strategy 2017–2027.

“Gardens are vital spaces that support wellbeing — offering peace, joy and connection to everyone who steps inside.”

This garden centre is very cute with the hallways full of flowers and the fantastic smells it gives off. It's lovely to have a seat and just take in your surroundings and have a hot drink. Can't complain.

The flowers and plants last a long time — the hanging basket I bought months ago has been flowering all summer and looks gorgeous. The staff put a lot of effort into their plants and are very helpful. The plants are competitively priced and they do delivery too.

I've ordered and taken delivery of a number of plants and baskets from HP Garden Centre over the years and as always, they're great value for money as well as being lovely and long lasting. Staff take a great deal of pride in their work.

Great place to visit. Has a cafe with outdoor and undercover seating. Plants look very healthy — some large, well-established specimens ready to plant. Set in Heaton Park, it feels remote from the bustle, although it's very accessible. Plenty of nice strolls around the park available from here.

Fabulous Garden Centre. Great plants and very friendly, helpful staff. The little cafe is fabulous too with reasonably priced food. Good service all round and dog friendly too with tap water and bowls readily available.

The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Can highly recommend the plants — very well cared for prior to purchase. Even delivered heavy items and took no extra charge. If you need plants or flowers in North Manchester, this is the place to go.

A really great idea — we didn't actually know this was here, worth a visit. My little boy loved it. You pick a pot, have a sit down with a drink, they bring you paints and glitter and you just paint away. I'll definitely come here again.

Very relaxing and peaceful garden centre. Always a good sign when the little one doesn't complain about being in a garden centre. The cafe is also very reasonably priced and with a good selection.

A wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning. Fantastic breakfast and wonderful service in The Hidden Gem, great gift ideas in the shop, and to finish a stroll round the competitively priced garden centre. Heaven on earth.
